Filtering and Sharing Dashboard Views

The account and segment filters narrow a Liferay Data Platform (LDP) dashboard to a single account, a single segment, or both at once. You then read the same metrics for one customer or one audience instead of for all traffic. Because the filter selection is part of the page’s URL, you can refresh, bookmark, or share a narrowed dashboard. These filters require a Liferay Data Platform subscription.

On a dashboard, the filters are All Accounts and All Segments drop-down menus in the row below the tab bar, each one a button with a filter icon. The Assets list holds them in its table’s Filter menu instead.

The account and segment menus sit in the row below the tab bar.

To apply a filter:

  1. Open a dashboard, such as Sites under Touchpoints.

  2. Click All Accounts or All Segments.

  3. To narrow a long list, type part of a name in the Search box. The list updates shortly after you stop typing.

  4. Select an account or a segment.

The selected name replaces All Accounts or All Segments on the button, and the dashboard reloads with the filtered data.

Each menu holds one selection; choosing another replaces the current one. To clear a filter, open its menu and select All Accounts or All Segments. The filters are independent, so clearing one leaves the other unchanged.

Applying both filters narrows a dashboard to one account’s activity within one segment, such as a single enterprise account’s engagement among the visitors in a high-value segment. A time range, whether set in the page’s Time Range control or on an individual card, applies alongside both filters.

Filtering the Assets List

The Assets list carries its filters in the table’s Filter menu rather than in the row below the tabs. Click Filter to open the menu. The Filter by People group holds the Accounts and Segments entries. Both accept several selections at once, and typing in either one narrows its options. Each applied filter appears as a label above the table that lists its selections. To remove a filter, click Remove Filter (Remove Filter) on its label. To remove every filter and the search, click Clear.

The Assets list holds its account and segment filters under Filter by People.

Filtering by account or segment narrows the table to the assets the selected accounts or segments interacted with, and the Views, Impressions, and Downloads columns count only that activity. Sort by any of those columns to rank the filtered assets by that metric. The Download Reports export applies these filters, so the CSV holds only the filtered rows.

Sharing a Filtered View

The page’s URL holds your account and segment selections, so they survive a refresh and carry over when you switch tabs or open detail pages within the same dashboard. To share or bookmark a narrowed dashboard, copy the URL from the browser’s address bar.

A dashboard opened from the navigation menu starts with unfiltered data, and navigating to a different dashboard clears the filters. A dashboard opened from an account’s Activity Stream, through an event’s title, starts with that account already selected. See Accounts.

Selections made in the Assets list’s Filter menu are not written to the URL, so they do not survive a refresh and cannot be shared or bookmarked. The list does accept an account or segment carried in a link, such as View All on an account’s Top Assets card, and preselects it in the Filter menu.

Where the Filters Appear

The account and segment filters are available in these dashboards and lists:

The Accounts list’s Filter menu holds a Segment filter that accepts one segment at a time. It is separate from the account and segment filters above.

On Lifecycles, the segment menu sits beside that dashboard’s All Industries and All Countries menus, which filter by industry and country and are unrelated to LDP segments. On the Overview tab of a page’s dashboard, the Experiences filter sits beside the account and segment menus, narrowing the page’s metrics to one of its experiences.
