Liferay DXP and the New Headless CMS

In the 2025.Q4 release, Liferay DXP introduced its new native Headless Content Management System (CMS) via a Beta feature flag. This redefines how content is structured, managed, and delivered, enabling organizations to keep pace with the speed of modern digital experiences., content: Liferay’s new Headless Content Management System solves the bottlenecks of multi-channel delivery by completely decoupling content management from the presentation layer. This shift to a headless-first architecture empowers teams to deliver high-impact experiences with greater efficiency, providing three core advantages: Content Universality: Create content once as a global asset to be reused across different sites and departments. Frontend Flexibility: Empower developers to build any front-end technology or framework, like React, Angular, or Vue using robust REST and GraphQL APIs. Omnichannel Delivery: Marketers can structure content independently and publish to websites, mobile apps, IoT devices, and kiosks. This new Liferay CMS is a new module included in Liferay DXP, not a separate product. Customers with an active Liferay DXP subscription (SaaS, PaaS, or Self-Hosted) will have access to these capabilities with no additional subscription fees, provided they are running the required version. Release Roadmap We are following a clear roadmap to ensure the stability and maturity of the tool: 2025.Q4: Beta Release, enabling for exploration and testing in development environments. 2026.Q1 (Targeted): General Availability (GA), with planned readiness for production environments.
