Liferay DXP and the New Headless CMS
In the 2025.Q4 release, Liferay DXP introduced its new native Headless Content Management System (CMS) via a Beta feature flag. This redefines how content is structured, managed, and delivered, enabling organizations to keep pace with the speed of modern digital experiences.
Liferay’s new Headless Content Management System solves the bottlenecks of multi-channel delivery by completely decoupling content management from the presentation layer. This shift to a headless-first architecture empowers teams to deliver high-impact experiences with greater efficiency, providing three core advantages:
-
Content Universality: Create content once as a global asset to be reused across different sites and departments.
-
Frontend Flexibility: Empower developers to build any front-end technology or framework, like React, Angular, or Vue using robust REST and GraphQL APIs.
-
Omnichannel Delivery: Marketers can structure content independently and publish to websites, mobile apps, IoT devices, and kiosks.
This new Liferay CMS is a new module included in Liferay DXP, not a separate product. Customers with an active Liferay DXP subscription (SaaS, PaaS, or Self-Hosted) will have access to these capabilities with no additional subscription fees, provided they are running the required version.
