Tasks
Private Beta Feature Liferay DXP 2026.Q2+
Tasks are the actionable work items required to execute a project. The Content Marketing Platform (CMP) provides a flexible task framework for creating, tracking, and updating deliverables based on your current workspace context. Centralizing these activities helps your team maintain visibility and accountability throughout the campaign lifecycle.

The task details view provides a consistent environment for collaboration and asset management:
-
Description: Detailed instructions or objectives for the specific work item.
-
Assets: A dedicated repository for content and files linked to the task.
-
Info Sidebar: Quick access to change the state and assignee.
-
Activity: Use comments for contextual team discussion and see history to audit all modifications, including timestamps and contributors.
Creating Tasks
You can create tasks from two locations depending on whether you’re working across all your projects or inside a specific one.
Creating Tasks From the Global Task List
Use this flow when reviewing all organizational work to identify and add new requirements without navigating into a specific project first.
-
From your Liferay CMS space, click Tasks under Planning.
-
Click New.
-
In the creation modal, select the destination project.
-
Click Save.
-
Enter the task details and click Save.

Creating Tasks From Project Details
When working within a specific project, CMP streamlines creation by automatically associating the new task with that project.
-
Navigate to the Tasks tab of your project.
-
Click New (or New Task if no tasks exist yet).
-
The Project field is pre-filled and read-only. Enter the Title, Assignee, and Due Date.
-
(Optional) In the Assets section, drag and drop files or click New to link deliverables directly to the task.
-
Click Save.

Monitoring Task Progress
CMP provides visual cues and notification tools to help your team manage deadlines and stay aligned on dependencies without manual follow-ups. At the top of any task list view, summary cards show Total Tasks, In Progress, Blocked, and Overdue counts.
CMP flags delayed work so missed deadlines don’t go unnoticed in long lists. Any task that passes its due date without reaching the Done state displays an orange Overdue label. This status is visible in the table or Kanban board views, and the task’s info panel.

If your work depends on a task assigned to someone else, you can watch it to receive automated notifications for critical updates.
-
Click Actions (
) — on the task’s row in the list, or next to the breadcrumb on the task details page — and select Watch Task.
-
You are now subscribed to notifications for status changes, assignee updates, due date changes, new comments, and blocked status.
Executing and Updating Tasks
As work moves through the execution phase, use the workspace to update task statuses and manage your view of campaign deliverables. Tasks move through four states by default: Not Started, In Progress, Blocked, and Done. You can shift a task’s state directly from your preferred view:
-
Kanban View: From the task list, click Table View (
) and select Kanban. Drag a task card from one column to another. -
Task Details: Open the task and use the State drop-down in the Info sidebar.
CMP reflects state updates in the project’s overall completion rate and logs them in the History tab.
To manage large amounts of data, use the filter bar to narrow your view to specific work items:
-
Click Filter.

-
Apply the filters to display only the tasks relevant to your current focus.
The list view updates immediately to display only the results that match your criteria. You can clear individual filters or click Clear to return to the full task list.
