Scanning Pages
Private Beta Feature
SEO & AEO Studio builds its insights from scans of your domain’s public pages. Before the first scan, add the domain on the Configurations page and turn on at least one scan engine on the Settings page, where you can also schedule scans. Then run scans on that schedule or on demand.
For setting up a new account, see Getting Started with SEO & AEO Studio.
Adding the Domain
SEO & AEO Studio supports one domain at a time. Enter the host that serves your pages after any redirects. For example, if https://example.com redirects to https://www.example.com, enter https://www.example.com. Only links whose host and port match the domain you enter count as internal in the Broken Internal Links, Redirect Chains, and Redirect Loops checks.
Scans require a sitemap at the domain’s /sitemap.xml, and a scan fails if that address doesn’t return one. To check, open https://[your-domain]/sitemap.xml in a browser. To set up a Liferay DXP site’s sitemap, see Configuring XML Sitemaps.
-
In the left navigation, click Configurations.
-
In the Domains section, click Add Domain.
-
In the Domain field, enter the domain in the required format, such as
https://www.example.com. -
Click Add.
If the domain is accepted, it appears in the Domains table. Otherwise, the dialog stays open with a message that explains the problem.
“Enter a valid URL.” means the entry isn’t a root address in the required format. Remove any path, query string, or fragment, and include http:// or https://.

Add Domain is disabled until Liferay provisions SEO & AEO Studio for your account. See Accessing SEO & AEO Studio.
Changing or Removing the Domain
You must remove your current domain before adding a new one.
Removing a domain permanently deletes its scans, insights, settings, Search Console integration, and fetched Search Console data. The Google PageSpeed Insights integration isn’t tied to the domain and stays connected. You can’t undo the removal.
-
In the left navigation, click Configurations.
-
In the Domains table, click Remove (
) for the domain. -
In the Remove Domain dialog, click Remove.
When the Domains section shows No Domains Yet, add the new domain, then configure its scans and reconnect Google Search Console.
Configuring Scans
The Settings page’s Health Scan section controls when scans run automatically and what each scan collects. You can save these settings once you’ve added the domain.
-
In the left navigation, click Settings.
-
Under Health Scan, in the Schedule section, turn on Auto Scan and set when scans run. See Schedule.
-
In the Scope section, turn on Crawler Insights. If you’ve connected Google PageSpeed Insights, also turn on Google PageSpeed Insights.
-
For each engine you turned on, set Max Pages per Scan high enough to scan all of your domain’s public pages. See Scope.
-
Click Save.

Running a Scan
Whenever no scan is running, you can start one with Save and Scan Now, which also saves the current settings. To start a scan, you must have added the domain and turned on at least one engine.
-
In the left navigation, click Settings.
-
In the Health Scan section, click Save and Scan Now.
-
When asked to confirm the scan, click OK.
If the scan starts, the Health Scan section shows an alert that you can’t start a new scan yet. Changes you save during the scan apply to the next one.
While the scan runs, every page shows the SEO Scan in Progress banner with the scan’s estimated completion time, and the On Page and Technical pages keep showing the last completed scan’s results. The banner reflects the scan’s state when the page loads.
Refresh the page to check on the scan. When the scan completes, the banner disappears and On Page and Technical show its insights. To work with them, see Reviewing Insights.
If the banner shows SEO Scan Failed, check that https://[your-domain]/sitemap.xml returns your sitemap. If it does, try the scan again later. Starting a new scan replaces the banner.
