Issue

  • My Basic Authentication was disabled at the Instance Level, and now I am unable to access the DXP Portal because of it. How do I re-enable Basic Authentication without logging in?

Environment

  • Quarterly Release 2025.Q1.6

Resolution

  • There is a way to re-enable Basic Authentication at the Instance Level by leveraging an OSGI configuration file. Here are the steps to accomplish this:
    1. Open a Browser Window and Navigate to your Home Page
    2. Open the Browser's Developer Tools and enter the following command into the console:
      • Liferay.ThemeDisplay.getCompanyId()
    3. Save the output. This is the CompanyID of the site
    4. Create a configuration file with the following name (the UUID does not matter)
      • com.liferay.portal.security.configuration.BasicAuthHeaderSupportConfiguration.scoped~8ecaca5f-3573-46ac-92b6-ae52a6cdb67c.config
    5. In the newly created configuration file, add the following lines, where CompanyID is replaced with the one saved in the earlier step:
      • companyId=L"1234567890"
        enabled=B"true"
    6.  Configuration file is complete. Proceed to deploy the file under
      •  [Liferay_home]/osgi/configs
    7. Basic Authentication should be enabled for this instance
