Adding Marketplace Fragments to Pages
Liferay DXP 2025.Q3+
Liferay Marketplace offers a range of apps and fragments that integrate seamlessly into the Page Editor. Access, configure, and use these Marketplace fragments to enhance content pages with additional functionality and create dynamic, feature-rich pages.
Only free fragments are available in the Marketplace Explorer connected to Liferay DXP.
Setting Up Marketplace
This feature was released in 2025.Q1 (LPD-35941) and became generally available in 2025.Q3.
- Before using marketplace fragments in the page editor, you must set up a connection between Liferay DXP and Marketplace.
Users must have administrator permissions to install fragments from Marketplace.
Adding a Marketplace Fragment to the Fragments Application or the Page Editor.
Once the connection is set, add Marketplace fragments to the Fragments application or to the Page Editor.

Open the Fragments application or the Page Editor.
To access the Fragments application, open the Site Menu (
), expand Design, and go to Fragments.To edit an existing page or create a new one using the Page Editor, open the Site Menu (
), expand Site Builder, and go to Pages. -
Click Open Marketplace Explorer (
) to view available fragments and fragment sets in the Add from Marketplace modal.In the Fragments application, the button is next to Add Fragment Set (1). In the Page Editor, it’s next to the Components tab search bar (2).

(Optional) Click a fragment’s card to view details such as the developer’s name, publication date, and supported offerings.
Click Back to List in the top left corner to return to the Add from Marketplace modal.

Click Install.
When you install a single fragment, choose where to save it:
- To use an existing set, select one from the Fragment Sets list.
- To create a new set, click Save In New Set. (If no fragment sets exist yet, the new-set form opens automatically.) In the Name field, accept the default (Untitled Set) or enter a new name for the set, add an optional description, and click Save.
When you install a fragment set, the set carries its own collection metadata, so installation starts immediately without prompting for a destination.

After installation, the fragment appears in the selected set in the Fragment Sets list in the Fragments application (1) or under the Components tab in the Page Editor (2).
Marketplace fragments are marked with a Marketplace icon (
). You can rename them like any other fragment, but their code and configuration are managed by Marketplace and update only when a new version is published there.

(Optional) In the page editor, click Components Options (
) next to the Marketplace icon to reorder sets or switch the view mode between list and cards.The Reorder Sets option opens a new modal where you can drag and drop sets to adjust their order. Click Save to apply changes.
Searching for Marketplace Fragments
Use the search bar in the page editor’s Components tab to find installed fragments and widgets. To extend the search to Marketplace fragments, enter a search term and click See Marketplace Results at the bottom of the tab. Matching Marketplace fragments and fragment sets appear in the results.
Reinstalling a Marketplace Fragment

If a fragment or fragment set is already installed and you install it again from Marketplace, a Manage Existing Items dialog appears. Choose how to handle each conflict and click Save:

Do Not Add Existing Items: Skip items that are already installed. Use this option when you want to update everything except items you have already renamed or organized locally and don’t want disturbed.

Overwrite Existing Items: Replace the installed copy with the Marketplace version, including any updates. Use this option to pick up a newer version published in Marketplace.

Keep Both: Add the new copy alongside the existing one and append a number to the duplicate’s name. Use this option to compare versions side by side.
The same dialog also appears when importing fragments from a ZIP file, so the install, reinstall, and import flows share one consistent experience.
Exporting Fragment Sets That Contain Marketplace Fragments

Marketplace fragments cannot be exported because Marketplace is the official source for them — you download them from Marketplace rather than sharing them through a ZIP file. The Export action has three outcomes:

A fragment set that mixes Marketplace fragments with custom or imported fragments can be exported. Marketplace fragments are skipped, and the exported ZIP contains only the exportable items.

A fragment set that contains only Marketplace fragments (or only React-type fragments) has no Export action on its Actions menu, and no row-level Export action on individual Marketplace fragment cards.

The bulk Export action in the toolbar remains available, but Marketplace and React fragments are silently skipped from the resulting ZIP. If your selection contains only Marketplace fragments, the resulting ZIP is empty.
