Updating Liferay Developer Studio

Apply Liferay Developer Studio (LDS) updates without reinstalling. Each Liferay IDE GitHub release ships an Eclipse updatesite archive (liferay-ide-updatesite-<version>-<timestamp>.zip) that the standard Help → Install New Software… flow applies in place.

Prerequisites

• A working installation of Liferay Developer Studio. See Liferay Developer Studio.

Apply an Update

1. Open the Liferay IDE releases page and download the liferay-ide-updatesite-<version>-<timestamp>.zip asset from the release you want to install.

2. In Liferay Developer Studio, go to Help → Install New Software….

3. Click Add… next to Work with.

4. Click Archive…, browse to the updatesite zip you downloaded, and click Add.

5. Wait for the available components to populate, then select the Liferay Developer Studio components you want to update.

6. Click Next, review the items, and click Next again.

7. Accept the license terms and click Finish.

8. Restart LDS when prompted.

Verify the Update

Open Help → About Liferay Developer Studio. The displayed version matches the release you installed.

Alternative: Download a New Installer

For a clean reinstall — for example, after an Eclipse-platform major-version change — download the latest LiferayWorkspacewithDevStudio installer from the Liferay IDE releases page and run it. The installer can target a new directory or update an existing installation in place.
