Liferay PaaS Experience: Logs
Liferay manages the log collection and storage infrastructure. The Liferay container writes logs to standard output and error streams, and the platform forwards them to GCP Cloud Logging automatically. Grafana’s Loki-based log explorer plugin is disabled in this platform.
You view logs through Grafana, not through GCP Cloud Logging directly. The platform preconfigures a Cloud Logging data source in your Grafana instance, so Grafana surfaces the logs GCP Cloud Logging has processed for your environment and viewing them doesn’t require a GCP account or an IAM role.
What Is Logged
The Liferay container emits logs to standard output and standard error. These streams include:
- Liferay DXP application logs
- OSGi bundle activation and error output
- Tomcat access and error logs
Kubernetes automatically captures these streams from the container runtime and associates them with pod, namespace, and deployment metadata.
Log Retention
Liferay retains logs for 30 days, the same retention period as the existing Liferay PaaS offering. To request logs older than 30 days, open a support ticket.
