Issue

  • Pages are showing up on the sitemap.xml that do not have Guest viewing permissions.
  • For SEO purposes this page is not expected to be listed in the sitemap.

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 7.2

Resolution

There is a setting that can be toggled at the page level for including or excluding individual pages on the sitemap.xml using the following steps:

1) Startup a clean instance of Liferay 7.2

2) Navigate to localhost:8080/sitemap.xml

3) Observe that there are 2 entries.

4) Navigate to Liferay DXP > Site Builder > Pages

5) Here you will observe a Home and a Search page.

6) Using the 3 dot menu for the Home page select configure.

7) Select the SEO tab at the top of the screen.

8) In the sitemap section toggle "include" to No.

9) Save settings and hit localhost:8080/sitemap.xml

10) Observe that there is now only 1 entry.
