404/Utility page doesn't work on Liferay SaaS

Note: please note that Liferay has renamed its Liferay Experience Could offerings to Liferay SaaS (formerly LXC) and Liferay PaaS (formerly LXC-SM).

Issue

  • We created a custom utility page and marked it as default, but we still get the default utility page when opening an invalid URL

Environment

  • Liferay SaaS

Resolution

  • Since the Utility pages were added in the newer version of DXPs and we wanted to keep the user experience consistent, we kept the old 404 pages for the already existing customers.
  • In order to enable the custom utility pages, please reach out to Support to remove the 404 error page from the webserver config, so Liferay can serve this error page instead of the web server.
