Issue

  • Using any blade command, as
blade version

shows 'Failed to find Java VM' error

Environment

  • Microsoft Windows.

Resolution

  • This behavior can be related to updating the JVM after a blade installation. In this case, blade configuration points to previous JVM path. In consequence, blade cannot find the Java executable.
  • Fixing the issue:
    • Locate
<user>/.jpm/windows/bin/blade.ini file

in your Windows file system.

    • Check the current definition for
vm.location

property. For example

vm.location=C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_421\bin\server\jvm.dll
    • This property defines the JVM path. Thus, you have to change it with the new JVM path. Save the blade.ini file.
  • Now, blade would be operational again.
