Null captcha text in a custom development using liferay-captcha taglib

Issue

• After adding the captcha taglib in a custom JSP, for example:

• <liferay-captcha:captcha url="${captchaURL}" />

• CaptchaUtil.check(actionRequest) is returning an error since CAPTCHA_TEXT is null.

• Quarterly Releases

Resolution

• This issue is normally fixed by removing the url parameter:

• <liferay-captcha:captcha />

• For example:
  • JSP (input): https://github.com/liferay/liferay-portal/..../gogo-shell-web/src/main/resources/META-INF/resources/view.jsp
  • Java (captcha validation): https://github.com/liferay/liferay-portal/.../gogo-shell-web/src/main/java/com/liferay/gogo/shell/web/internal/portlet/GogoShellPortlet.java
