Issue
- We're experiencing slow database restore times due to excessive large object data, primarily within the `analyticsmessage` table.
- When planning an upgrade, we've found a table with millions of objects, slowing down the process.
Environment
- Upgrading from DXP 7.4 > Liferay DXP Quarterly Releases
Resolution
- The `analyticsmessage` table stores audit data related to users, groups, organizations, and other entities that are synchronized with the Analytics Cloud. Although this data is usually deleted after being sent to the Analytics Cloud, a high volume of entries can sometimes cause a backlog.
- If this table is causing delays in your database backups before upgrading, our team has determined that it is safe to clean up the `analyticsmessage` table. The improved syncing method, which now uses batching, no longer relies on this table. However, to prevent any potential data loss, please reconfigure your Analytics Cloud settings to resync contacts after upgrading to 2023.Q4+.
