Issue
- Images and files uploaded to Documents and Media are not visible to guest users, even with "View" permission granted to the Guest role.
Environment
- Liferay DXP 7.4 [and above versions]
Resolution
- Guest users require both "View" and "Download" permissions in Documents and Media to access uploaded files, including images.
- If a site has private pages, guest users must have explicit "Download" permission, even if the file's visibility is set to "Anyone."
- To enable "Download" permission for guests:
- Navigate to Control Panel > Roles > Regular Roles > Guest.
- Click "Define Permissions."
- Search for "Document and Media."
- Under "Document," check the "Download" permission.
