Issue

  • After setting up A/B testing for a Liferay instance in Analytics Cloud, the test results do not show up, however, other navigation data is displayed.

Environment

  • Analytics Cloud

Resolution

There are a few prerequisites for A/B Test data to be displayed in Analytics Cloud

  • A/B testing is not supported if Staging is enabled on your Liferay instance
  • A minimum of 20 sessions per day are required for test data to be reported. Test data is not reported for any day in which this threshold is not met.
  • Additionally, there is a minimum amount of data per variant, per success/failure scenario.

How to meet these requirements?

A user session can be generated in two ways:

  • If a user is logged in, logging out and logging back in will generate a new session for the same user
  • If a user is anonymous, they can navigate within an incognito window. Exiting and navigating to the site in a new incognito will generate a new session.
