Using Fragments

Mapping and Linking Fragment Elements

Map and link fragment elements to create reusable components for your digital experiences (for example, form submissions and navigation actions).

Note

Not all fragments support mapping and linking options. See General Settings Reference for more information.

Mapping Fragment Elements

  1. Open the Site Menu (Site Menu), expand Site Builder, and go to Pages.

  2. Create a new page or start editing one.

  3. Use a fragment on the page or drag and drop a new one from the Fragments and Widgets toolbar.

This example uses the Button fragment under Basic Components.

Add a button fragment to the page.

  4. Double-click the button fragment to access its link element.

  5. On the right, open the Mapping tab, click +, and select an item. This maps the selected element to the item’s content.

Select a web content article as the mapped item.

  6. Once you select an item, click the Field drop-down to access available options and select one of them.

In this exercise, the button’s content is mapped to a web content article’s title.

Map the button's content to a web content article's title.

The element is now mapped to a field from the selected item.

The web content article's title is now mapped to the button fragment's content.

Next, configure a link for the element.

Linking Fragment Elements

Link fragment elements to create interactions between components. For example, link a button to submit a form, navigate to another page, or open an external URL.

To link an element, use the same button fragment:

  1. Double-click the button fragment to access its link element.

  2. On the right, open the Link tab and choose a Link type: URL, Page, or Mapped URL.

The URL type accepts localized URLs that can point to external websites.

The available options for the URL link type.

The Page type links directly to a page within the site instance.

The available options for the Page link type.

The Mapped URL type points to assets with mappable fields or dynamically generated links managed in the CMS.

The available options for the Mapped URL link type.

  3. (Optional) Decide whether the link opens in a new tab.
