Issue

  • When running the task yo liferay-theme:import to import a 6.2 theme in order to convert it to a 7.1+ Theme Generator type of theme, the tool will print:
doesn't appear to be a theme in the SDK

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 7.1+

Resolution

  • The Liferay Theme Generator only works with themes built by Plugins SDK, matching that very same layout structure. It will not work with e.g. Maven themes
  • ✅ It is still possible to import the theme: if you can get the project folder and files structure to look like an old plugins-sdk one, the import task will run
  • ✅ Alternatively, you may use the Liferay Developer Studio's Code Upgrade Tool or Liferay Upgrade Planner to upgrade theme before importing it into the Theme Generator
