Issue

  • When attempting to add a new Virtual Host in the Site Configurations, it is not possible to save the changes, and an error message appears in the portal's UI: "Error: Your request failed to complete."

  • In the logs, the following error is reported:

[dxp] ERROR [http-nio2-8080-exec-35][JDBCExceptionReporter:234] Duplicate entry 'VIRTUAL_HOST_NAME-0' for key 'IX_76A64FBE'.

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 7.3

Resolution

  • This error points to a conflict of indexes when trying to insert this domain. It is likely that the hostname you are attempting to add is already in use by another site or virtual instance. Remember that a domain can only be applied to a single site, and you cannot map a single domain to multiple sites simultaneously.
