Issue

  • When trying to set up the QR Code for MFA settings, following this documentation Multi-Factor Authentication Checkers, we've found that the QR code doesn't populate. It should be populating under "Shared Secret", but our page is blank.
  • Steps for reproduction:
    1. Control Panel > System Settings > Multi-Factor Authentication

    2. Uncheck Disable Multi-Factor Authentication

    3. Instance Settings > Multi-Factor Authentication > check Enabled > Save

    4. Go to the Time-Based One-Time Password Configuration tab

    5. Check Enabled > Save

    6. Click on the User icon > Account Settings > Multi-Factor Authentication

  • Observe that the QR Code is missing.

Environment

  • Quarterly Release
  • 2025.Q1.5

Resolution

  • This is a known bug to Liferay, LPD-48214, and has been fixed in 2025.Q2 and newer versions.
  • Please request a hotfix including LPD-48214 or upgrade to a fixed version of Liferay.
