Product images are not visible to guest users

Issue

  • Steps to reproduce:
    1. Start Liferay 7.2 fix-pack-14 and commerce version 2.2.0
    2. Sign in as an admin.
    3. Navigate to catalog and create a catalog named 'Test Catalog'.
    4. Now, navigate to products. Click on the '+' button and select as simple.
    5. Create a product by choosing the created catalog.
    6. Click on the Media tab. Drag and drop the document.
    7. Publish the product.
    8. Now, click on inspect and note down the folder Id of the image.
    9. Navigate to document & Media portlet( Notice: There are no media related to product image as we have uploaded in Step 6.
    10. Choose any folder or create any folder.
    11. Now, provide the folder Id in the URL.
    12. Note, that the image is coming into the different folders.
    13. Check the permissions of all the folders. All are selected as View for Guest.
    14. Sign out.
    15. Enter the Latest Version URL of the image. (Image is not visible to the guest user and it is showing the login portlet)
    Expected Behavior: The image must be visible to the guest user.
    Actual Behavior: The image is not visible to the guest user and the image comes into different folders. Additionally, if the user uploads the document not using the functionality of drag & drop, it is visible to the guest user.

  • Liferay 7.2
  • Commerce 2.2.0

Resolution

  • The Liferay DXP's observed behavior is considered a feature request, which can be tracked here: COMMERCE-9763

Additional Information

  • This has been not yet considered for implementation, and considering the same in future releases is up to the discretion and priorities of our developer team.
  • Feature Request ticket, as noted in the Feature Request documentation, these tickets are requests to implement a new feature in future versions of Liferay, and it would be at our Product Team's discretion to determine the timeline of new features being added to Liferay. 
  • As the request progresses, it can be monitored and checked on. The status of the request will change to 'complete' if the Product Team approves it and the feature is implemented, after which a ticket can be submitted to seek a hotfix. In the meantime, one can follow the ticket and vote for this feature by clicking on 'Vote for this issue'.
