Issue

  • Liferay currently only allows export of either Private or Public pages (and not both).
  • When a site has a web content displayed on their public page with a link to a private page, or vice versa, while an administrator can successfully export a set of public or private pages, they encounter missing reference errors during the import to a new environment, for example:

    2020-09-01_16_52_31-New_Import_Process_-_testexportimport_-_Liferay_DXP.jpg

Environment

  • DXP 7.0+

Resolution

  • Disable the validation of missing references so the the Public pages can be imported prior to importing the Private pages, or vice versa.

DXP 7.0

  1. Navigate to Control Panel > Configuration > System Settings > Web Experience and Search for Import/Export Service.
  2. Go to Import/Export Service and disable the option for 'Validate Layout References'.

DXP 7.1+

  1. Navigate to Control Panel > Configuration > System Settings > Platform > Infrastructure.
  2. On the left hand menu, select Export/Import.
  3. Uncheck the 'Validate Layout References' setting, and click Save.
