Issue

  • Is it possible to create content in a language that is not the default language of your portal?
For example, your portal is by default in English and you want to create some content in Spanish, but you don't want to have that article in your default language.

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 7.0, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4

Resolution

  • There is an option that you could check to make this possible. You have to go to your portal and follow the path Control panel > Configuration: System Settings > Content and Data: Web Content > System Scope: Administration.
  • In this screen, you will see a checkbox that says: Changeable Default Language.
With this option checked, it's possible to change the default language of an article.
