getSearchHits() API method does not take the start value in consideration

Issue

• I am using search API (as per article https://help.liferay.com/hc/en-us/articles/360029046411-Building-Search-Queries-and-Filters) and noticed that the size of the list returned by the SearchResponse.getSearchHits() method is not correct, as if the start parameter is not taken into consideration (considered to be 0 always). Attached you can find an example groovy script that demonstrates the issue (search_sample.groovy).

Environment

• DXP 7.3 

Resolution

7.3 U24 and before: 

• You should specify the range via SearchRequestBuilder instead of the SearchContext:
  

  searchRequestBuilder.from(start);
  searchRequestBuilder.size(20);

• SearchContext's ranges participate in search permission filtering and are modified internally during this process.

From 7.3 U25:

• SearchRequestBuilder and SearchContext's from variable are always 0 in search pagination. 
• This is an expected behavior. This has been modified due to search permission filtering needs
• The pagination is managed by SearchContainer component
