From staging to live, active experience has not been published

Issue

  • The new content page experience does not get published, and this issue does not arise with DXP 7.2 fix pack 13 (for patching tool info)
  • Steps to reproduce:
    1. On Liferay fix pack 9, add and publish a new content page
    2. Activate local live staging
    3. Switch to the staging view of the page.
    4. Edit the page.
    5. Create a new experience viewable for anyone.
    6. Move this new experience to the top of the list so it gets the little "Active"
    7. Change something on the page to distinguish the content from the Default experience. Switch between the two experiences so you can verify the content is different for the topmost, active experience.
    8. Save the page. On the view page, the new experience (at the top of the experience list with the "Active" box) should be the rendered version.
    9. Publish (only) this page to live and view the live page.
    Expected Behavior: The rendered page would be the one for the "new" experience that we just added and now is supposed to be active.
    Observed Behavior: The live page is still the default experience. The staging view is the new experience, but the live view is only the default experience.

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 7.2 with Fix Pack 9

Resolution

  • The observed behavior is verified as a known issue and is fixed by LPS-125992
  • If the hotfix is required for this issue, please create a support ticket requesting the hotfix by attaching the patch details.
  • Installing Fix Packs and Hotfixes on Liferay DXP will guide you to install the Fixpack/Hotfix in your environment.

Additional Information

  • Be sure to backup your Liferay DXP installation and database regularly, especially before patching.
  • Try the above activity in a lower environment first, if all works well, then move to the production environment as per your discretion.
  • Perform these operations in application server downtime, because these steps require the restart of the server.
