Resolution
- Check if you have configured the remote Elasticsearch already. The Liferay portal will not function very well (and may not even start) when there is absolutely no search engine connection. After starting the Liferay 7.3 bundle (with sidecar active) you can switch to remote Elasticsearch by navigating to system Settings > Search > Elasticsearch 7.
- You can also configure (via .config file) a remote Elasticsearch connection for startup. Deploying a configuration file for ElasticsearchConnector that sets the mode to REMOTE like the attached file should accomplish this. You can place it directly into osgi/configs folder.
