Displaying content across multiple sites in the same portal instance is an out-of-the-box Liferay feature. This article provides a basic example for achieving this.

Resolution

The following steps comprise a basic example to demonstrate the ability to share web content across sites.

  1. Create two Sites. Name them "Site1" and "Site2"
  2. Add the Web Content Display Portlet in the first site and title it "Site1 Test"
  3. Click on the wrench icon and select Configuration for that portlet.
    1. Under the Scope tab, select Global as opposed to Default
  4. Add some web content and publish it.
  5. In the second site, add a Web Content Display Portlet
  6. Click on the wrench icon and select Configuration for that portlet.
    1. Under the Scope tab, select Global again
  7. Go back to the Setup tab, now you should see the "Site1 Test" web content article added in the other site.
  8. Select it and click Save

Additional Information

Please note that if the two sites are in separate portal instances, the web content is not meant to sync across them.
