Developer Studio suddenly crashes

Issue

  • Developer Studio closes by itself after some time with an OutOfMemory error or without any errors at all. 

Environment

  • Developer Studio 3.9.3
  • JDK 11.0.8

Resolution

  • This problem can be experienced when JDK 11.0.8 is used to start up Developer Studio, for example by having the following setting to the DeveloperStudio.ini file:
-vm
path\to\jdk-11.0.8\bin
  • Using a different minor version of JDK 11 or using JDK 8 should prevent this problem to appear.
