Issue

  • Is there a database partitioning feature available for Liferay DXP 7.3 or 7.4?

Environment

  • DXP 7.3
  • DXP 7.4

Resolution

  • The database partitioning feature is in a kind of lab status for 7.4 to be used and tested internally only. We must ensure no drawbacks are caused by DB Partition due to they can be fatal since it manages all the data. We don't see a chance that we can introduce the feature publicly in the near future.
  • Database partitioning has been built very specifically for our own internal use case and infrastructure and we are not yet prepared to tackle on wide variety of use cases/infrastructure that customers will be sure to bring. Though, we have not written off providing this feature for external use in the future, as we are well aware that several customers have this requirement.
  • In case you would like us to implement database partitioning publicly, I would kindly suggest you to open a Feature Request as per the following article: Requesting a New Feature or Feature Improvement
