Issue

  • Pressing 'Enter' when typing, CKEditor will not wrap the new line in the same paragraph automatically.
  • The editor generates a new line with a <br /> tag instead.

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 7.3 Update 5+

Resolution

  • To resolve this and have the <p> tag around the text you are editing, you need to set the style of the text to 'Normal'. If you select the text which you would like to include in the paragraph, then setting the style to 'Normal', you will see in the Source mode that the <p> tag is added.
  • Alternatively, you can select the 'Normal' style before you start typing the text you wish to have in a paragraph.
  • On earlier versions of Liferay, the logic worked differently and a text was automatically set to be a paragraph (style 'Normal'), unless chosen otherwise.
