Issue

  • The backup service fails to start successfully and the following errors can be found in the backup logs:
cat: /sys/fs/cgroup/memory/memory.limit_in_bytes: No such file or directory

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 7.4
  • Backup Service 5.8.x

Resolution

  • The file path for memory limit changed at some point from /sys/fs/crgroup/memory/memory to /sys/fs/cgroup/memory.max, causing the error that can be seen in the backup logs and preventing the backup service from starting.
  • This issue can be resolved by upgrading the backup service version in the LCP.json file to 5.9.x or higher.
