Issue

  • Is the sitemap of a child site separate from the parent site?
  • How to access the sitemap of the child site?

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 7.4

Resolution

  • A child site is similar to a parent site, they help to organize sites hierarchically and let you share content between the sites easily. However, they have a separate sitemap.xml file from the parent site.
  • Generally, we access the sitemap via 'site_domain/sitemap.xml' (Example: www.abc.com/sitemap.xml), and to access the sitemap of the child site we need to access it via 'child_site_domain/sitemap.xml' (Example: www.xyz.com/sitemap.xml).
  • A separate virtual host for a child site must be configured and the sitemap should be accessed separately.
