Maintenance and Downtime
Sometimes, big changes in the underlying infrastructure of a project may cause downtime. When planning for these changes, you can enable maintenance mode to redirect traffic to a pre-configured maintenance page.
Enabling maintenance mode is only available on Liferay PaaS.
- On your production environment, click Settings in the environment menu.
- Go to the Maintenance Page tab.
- Enable or disable maintenance mode by toggling the switch.
Maintenance mode requires the web server to be running.
Using Custom Maintenance Pages
Liferay Cloud offers a default maintenance page to display whenever the Liferay service fails.
You can create and add your own maintenance page as an HTML file for these outages. This can be useful to communicate important information to your site’s visitors. For example, if downtime was a result of planned maintenance, it can be useful to communicate to your website’s visitors why the site is down.
To add your own custom page, click Upload a custom maintenance page. You can replace the maintenance page as often as you’d like.
