Creating Pages

Using Widget Pages

Deprecated for Liferay DXP 2026.Q3+

A widget page is a page with a set layout for displaying widgets (applications). Widgets can display content or add interactive and dynamic functionality to the page.

Important

Widget pages are scheduled for removal in a future major release. Content pages are their replacement. To move an existing widget page, see Converting Widget Pages to Content Pages.

On a new installation, the Widget Page type does not appear in the page creation wizard. On an upgraded installation, the type still appears and is marked Deprecated. Existing widget pages continue to work and remain editable.

To restore the Widget Page type, enable the Widget Pages deprecation feature flag. The same flag governs the Widget Page, Full Page Application, and Panel types.

Important

While the flag is disabled, the Headless Admin Site API also rejects widget page creation with a 400 response. Export, import, and staging operations bypass the restriction, so system-driven page creation still works.

Enabling the flag doesn’t restore API-driven widget page creation on its own. The LPD-35443 feature flag separately gates that API and is disabled by default, so you must enable it as well.
