Issue

  • I want to download my text documents in docx file format, using OpenOffice integration.  I currently am only able to download as doc, not docx.
  • I want to add docx file format to portal.properties configurations for OpenOffice target extension.

Environment

  • DXP 7.4
  • DXP 7.3
  • DXP 7.2

Resolution

  • OpenOffice 4.0.0 or higher can convert text document files from docx to doc, odt, pdf, rtf, sxw, and txt file formats. This can be set by the following portal-ext.properties:
    openoffice.conversion.target.extensions[text]=\
    doc,\
    odt,\
    pdf,\
    rtf,\
    sxw,\
    txt
  • However, OpenOffice does not support saving text documents to docx file format (see OpenOffice forum "Save as Docx") so Liferay with OpenOffice integration cannot convert text documents to docx.
  • If docx file format is absolutely necessary, please use LibreOffice instead of OpenOffice for Liferay integration.
