Issue

  • When migrating existing users from an old system to Liferay, there are user requirements posed by Liferay (screen name, email address, first name, and last name). Old systems may not have all the information required by Liferay to create/migrate existing users.

Environment

  • DXP 7.0, DXP 7.1, DXP 7.2, DXP 7.3, DXP 7.4

Resolution

  • It is not possible to create and/or migrate these users without filling out all the necessary fields (screen name, email address, first name, and last name). Liferay can only recommend using fake data for the missing data, a value of some kind must be inputted. The purpose of these requirements is for the ability to have successful password resets.
  • Liferay recommends operating in best practices which would be to input real/accurate email addresses in case password resets are required. Fake data should not be utilized for the email address required section.
