Issue

  • I was wondering is there a possibility to order/prioritize object actions that use the same trigger?

For example, I have two object action, action1 and action2, and they are both triggered by On after add. I need to run the action1 before I run the action2.

Can I do that somehow, perhaps by naming the objects in a certain way? If not, can you create a request ticket about it?

Of course I could combine these but the latter action sends notification and I really don't want to do that programmatically.

Resolution

  • at the time of writing this (December 3, 2024), it's not possible to reorder the actions, they are executed in the order they were created.
It's also important to note that some actions are asynchronous, so there's no guarantee that one will be executed immediately after the previous one finishes. In other words, they are triggered sequentially, but the execution can happen in parallel.
The ability to order these actions is something our developers have been discussing internally, but we don't have a definite timeline or plan for when this will be possible.
