Issue

  • When sending emails, the error "unable to send message: 554 X.X.XXX SendAsDenied" occurs.
  • Steps to reproduce:
    1. Configure the outlook mail server to send email notifications in Liferay
    2. Sometimes, the following errors occurred while sending emails.

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 7.3

Resolution

  • Keep the email sender address and username same in the mail server configurations to resolve the mentioned above errors.
  • Below are the steps for checking the same:
    1. Click on Control Panel > Server Administration > Content.
    2. Click on mail, and check the username.
    3. Next, check the email sender address under Instance Settings > Email
