Issue

We cannot edit a document's properties if the document name does not contain a file extension and here are the steps we took:

  1. Navigate to Control Panel > System Settings > Documents and Media
  2. Change the value for File Extensions from "*" to ".txt"
  3. Click Save
  4. Navigate to any site
  5. Navigate to Content & Data > Documents and Media
  6. Click +
  7. Click File Upload
  8. Click Choose File
  9. Select any file with a .txt file extension
  10. Change the Name field value to 'My Test File' (make sure it does not include a file extension)
  11. Click Publish
  12. Click the kabob for the file you just uploaded and click Edit
  13. Update the description field value
  14. Click Publish
  15. You will see Error Document names must end with one of the following extensions: .txt
