Issue

  • Searching for non-admin users causes performance issues that did not exist  prior to upgrading to 2024.q1.
  • When non-admin users attempt to search, they receive a timeout error. 
  • Performance issues in SearchPermissionChecker due to too many GroupLocalService calls.
  • Thread dumps show heavy permission checking is triggered by SearchPermissionCheckerImpl

Environment

  • Liferay DXP Quarterly Release 2024.Q1

Resolution

  • Upgrade to 2025.Q1+, or request a fix built on LPD-32852.
