Issue

  • The user was unable to install a patch or hotfix, even after restarting the server and attempting with a vanilla instance, the following errors can be seen: 
    ERROR [Patcher:-1] The command has failed. Please see the log for details.
    25 Jul 2024 18:22:10,625 DEBUG [Patcher:-1] com.liferay.patching.tool.h.a.a: com.liferay.patching.tool.h.b.b: com.liferay.patching.tool.h.b.b: binaries/WAR_PATH/WEB-INF/shielded-container-lib/portal-impl.jar/com/liferay/portal/security/xml/SecureXMLFactoryProviderImpl.class_blocked.pdf is not listed as a valid file in the fix pack.

Environment

  • Liferay DXP [7.1 - 7.4]

Resolution

  • In most circumstances, this behavior happens when the network restricts the patch from downloading properly. 
  • The size of the hotfix can be verified here, please navigate to this below path of the .class file of the hotfix below and check the File Name:
liferay-hotfix-xxx-7413\binaries\MODULES_BASE_PATH\marketplace\Liferay Forms and Workflow - Liferay Portal Workflow - Impl.lpkg\com.liferay.portal.workflow.kaleo.runtime.impl-6.0.66.hotfix-xxxx-7413.jar\com\liferay\portal\workflow\kaleo\runtime\internal\assignment

  • Expected File Name: AggregateKaleoTaskAssignmentSelectorImpl.class
    Observed File Name: AggregateKaleoTaskAssignmentSelectorImpl.class_blocked.pdf

Additional Information

  • Unable-to-install-any-patch-or-hotfix-on-DXP
  • It is recommended that before performing any patch, hotfix, infra modifications, or property changes, the application server should be stopped, and before restarting it, clear all temp directories from liferay_home.
