Resolving Static Asset Publisher Rendering Errors in Custom Layout Templates

Issue

  • There is a known issue (as documented in LPS-88239) encountered when using a custom Layout Template that implements a static Asset Publisher. Instead of rendering properly, a NoSuchPortletPreferencesException is thrown in the app server's console and an "Asset Publisher is temporarily unavailable" is displayed instead of the desired web content.

Environment

  • DXP 7.1

Resolution

  • A workaround to avoid this is to create a .config file with the name: com.liferay.asset.publisher.web.configuration.AssetPublisherPortletInstanceConfiguration.config
  • In that file, enter the following content: emailAssetEntryAddedEnabled="false"
  • Place the file in [Liferay_home]/osgi/configs
  • After adding the file, restart the bundle, and the web content should be displayed as expected.

Additional Information

  • Implementing this .config file will change the portlet’s Asset Publisher - Configurations > Subscriptions > Enable Email Subscription default slider position to “No.” You will need to re-enable email subscriptions for the portlet if this feature is desired.
  • A permanent fix was implemented in dxp-10, and can be implemented by downloading dxp-10 here and installing it using these detailed instructions.
