Issue

  • The user intends to upload media within the product and has set the image file size to 100KB (or as per the requirement)
    1. Create any Simple product
    2. Navigate to Media inside the product
    3. Upload an image
    4. Make sure the image setting is done accordingly from the system setting (Control panel> Configuration> System Settings> Catalog> System Scope> Media)
    5. Upload images higher than 100KB (since this limit has been set to 100 KB in above steps).
    6. The image is getting uploaded.

Expected Behavior: If the size exceeds the limit given here, an error should be thrown.

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 7.4
  • Commerce 4.0

Resolution

  • The current functionality is only for Product Image when users are doing a drag/drop in Media without clicking Select File. It is working as intended.
    • Image functionality only supports IMAGE while 'Document and Media' supports pretty much all kinds of files.
  • However, a feature request has been submitted and is now being looked into in order to reevaluate this behavior or other possibilities with the commerce product. This feature request can be tracked here: LPS-187231

Additional Information

  • How to participate in feature requests: Requesting-a-New-Feature-or-Feature-Improvement
  • The product team will test the code extensively to ensure that there are no regressions or functional breaks before deciding whether to incorporate the new idea or any implementation, depending on whether it can be integrated with current functionalities or not. There is no estimated time of arrival (ETA) for that, and new implementation will always come with new updates.
