Issue

  • Customer has noticed that in the Pages Hierarchy menu there is no option to scroll horizontally if the page names don't fit the menu window.

  • The page names are also cut and there isn't any way to read them.

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 7.4 Quarterly Release 2023.q4.9 and 2024.q3.2

Resolution

  • This is a design limitation of the Clay TreeView component. This is because the Tree component was never designed to support a large number of nestings. It is rather for quick previews and actions, for more complex management of the tree you have the Go To Pages Administration available, which is accessible from the same panel.
  • We cannot make scrolling in two dimensions, as when we have two scrolls it’s an accessibility issue: WCAG 2.2 1.4.10 - Reflow: Understanding Success Criterion 1.4.10: Reflow | WAI | W3C
  • For an analysis of a possible change in the future, a feature request is submitted: LPD-39656. To track the status of the request, please inquire about it at the Liferay Ask link: https://liferay.dev/ask/questions/feature-requests.
