Issue

  • After performing an upgrade between DXP versions and using an Oracle database, the following errors are observed:
  • ERROR [main][UpgradeStepRegistratorTracker:185] Failed upgrade process for module com.liferay.dynamic.data.mapping.service
    com.liferay.portal.kernel.log.LogSanitizerException: com.liferay.portal.kernel.upgrade.UpgradeException: java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-01795: maximum number of expressions in a list is 1000_ [Sanitized]

Environment

  • DXP 7.0 +

Resolution

  • What happens is that during the upgrade process, this specific method _upgradeDDMStructureLayout populates a List with structureIds as the Structure Layouts get processed.
Once that method completes, the list containing the structureIds gets passed to _upgradeDDMStructure.
The structureIds get used in a SQL query that uses IN(#,#). The contents of this customer’s list exceeds 1000 which then throws that error.
  • The fix would be given by a workaround hotfix where it modifies the upgrade process and creates

a Statement that oracle should workaround Oracles 1000 entity limit.

Therefore a ticket should be opened requesting a hotfix with LPP-50646.
