Issue

  • Certain property values need to be hidden in the Control Panel.

Environment

  • DXP 7.4

Resolution

  • To obfuscate the value of a portal property and have it appear as a string of asterisks (****) in the Control Panel, you have to include the name of that portal property in the admin.obfuscated.properties portal property.

  • By default, the admin.obfuscated.properties portal property is set as follows:
        admin.obfuscated.properties=\
    auth.mac.shared.key,\
    auth.token.shared.secret,\
    default.admin.password,\
    dl.file.entry.preview.generation.decrypt.passwords.pdfbox,\
    dl.repository.guest.password,\
    jdbc.default.password,\
    mail.session.mail.pop3.password,\
    mail.session.mail.smtp.password,\
    tunneling.servlet.shared.secret
