Localization Issue - Languages showing as "English (US)" when applied to "Current" column

Issue

  • When upgrading from Liferay DXP 6.x to 7.4, the following Language localization issue has been observed:
    • Languages / locales listed in the portal-ext.properties file are not available to be assigned for users
    • Languages in "Available" column are shown as duplicates of "English (US)" when applied to the "Current" column

Environment

  • DXP 7.4

 

Resolution

  • This is a verified issue that is addressed by LPS-180299
  • The fix is built into 7.4 Update 73 and later
  • Please upgrade to 7.4 Update 73 or later to receive the fix or submit a Support ticket to request a hotfix

 

Additional Information

  • Similar language localization issue may be observed when adding languages using virtual instances with a site template (with no other locales other than the default enabled)
