Before LPS-34161, there was redundancy in the search portlet which would manifest when multiple asset publishers were present on a site. The more asset publishers that were present, the slower search would be. Until this point the performance had an inverse relationship with the number of asset publishers along with the number of search results.

Resolution

If you would like to take advantage of a more efficient search algorithm, simply open a request and request a hotfix for LPS-34161.
