Issue
- LDAP settings can be imported into the Liferay environment using osgi/config files
- These settings are imported into System Settings, and can then be configured for an individual instance in Instance Settings
- When adding a LDAP server in Instance Settings, the password field is not automatically entered with the rest of the information and must be manually entered.
Resolution
- It is the intentional behavior that the password must be manually re-entered when importing LDAP settings.
- This is because the Security Credential Configuration is of type password, which has a few defining traits associated with it.
- The field will be obscured
- The field will not be exported to a config file
- When LDAP configurations are exported, the password is not included in the export, as there is not a securityCredential field present in the export file
- This is intentional, as a password should not be able to be exported into a file
