Issue

  • A new Content Page is created and a widget is added to it.
There is no kebab menu on it (3 dots) and there is no Look and Feel Configuration button either.

Environment

  • Liferay DXP 7.2

Resolution

  • The menu is no longer visible, create a Widget Page in order to have widgets with the kebab menu option.

Workaround

  • Create fragments that wrap a widget and give it styles. This workaround also has some benefits, such as having the full power of CSS and being able to save the code in a version control system.

Additional Information

  • This behavior is documented in the following article: Content Page Management Interface
And the modification was done in LPS-89617.
This change was made in order to enable both technical and non-technical users of the portal would be able to use these features according to their skillsets; unlike the previous solution without ruining the brand image.

  • It is important to note that from 7.3 (and beyond) a set of features are planned that have the goal of providing control over the look and feel of a site while maintaining brand consistency throughout a site. This should also include the possibility of defining valid variations on how a particular fragment of widget looks, which the page author can leverage. This would be the solution in fragment-based pages for the same need for which the "Look & Feel" pop-over was added to widget pages, but in a way that will appeal to a wider audience and will help achieve better results (respecting brand consistency).
Please note that the implementation of this feature is subject to our developers' decision, and the new feature can only be added to our future Liferay releases.
